Born on 6th March 1962 in Pakoyi of Oyo State, the lawmaker is currently serving his first term as a Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 10th Assembly.
Senator Akintunde began his political career in 1999 and was later appointed commissioner, to Oyo State Civil Service Commission between 1999 and 2003; He was the commissioner for works and Transportation in Oyo between 2011 and November 2012 and served as Executive Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State. He later became the Chairman of the APC State Registration Committee for Osun State in January 2014 and the same year became the Chairman, of the APC State Congresses Committee for Kwara State (April 2014); member, he was elected to the green chamber in the 8th Assembly and was for the 9th Assembly.
Before joining politics, the lawmaker was the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Trade Codes Limited, a building construction, real estate, energy, and environmental consultancy services firm.
